Describe before interpreting
Write what the symbol looked like, what it did, where it appeared and how your body reacted.
Begin with your associations
Ask what the image reminds you of personally. Only then compare broader cultural or psychological possibilities.
Return to the whole dream
A snake, house or sea changes meaning according to the scene around it. Interpretation remains a hypothesis to test against your experience.
